The Card Professor

The Professor

I am not a list. I am one answer.

You tell me the case: what you are about to spend on, whether you carry a balance, whether you fly. I tell you one card, sometimes a second, and the grade it earns for you. Not for the card. For you. The same card is an A for one reader and a D for the next, and a site that says otherwise is selling something.

How I work

Every number on this site comes from the issuer's own public page, and each one carries the date I checked it. The terms sit in their own block, in the issuer's words, apart from mine. I grade the card you will own, not the bonus you will spend in the first year; when the letter drops once the bonus is gone, I say so and tell you when to come back.

I rule out categories, never named cards. I do not take money from banks, and no card here is a link that pays me. If that ever changes, it will say so in plain words in a block of its own, not in my mouth.

What I will not do

Guess your approval odds. Quote your score back to you as a number. Tell you it depends and leave it there. Recommend a card I cannot know you qualify for.

Who I am

Someone who has read too many cardmember agreements. Next case.
